Advanced Feeding & Crushing Mechanisms

The VSI Series supports two highly distinct feeding methods to optimize production yields based on material conditions.

Full Central Feeding

Materials drop into the feed hopper and pass through the central feeding hole directly into the high-speed spinning impeller. Rapidly accelerated to dozens of times the gravity acceleration, the materials are thrown out of the impeller. They first collide with incoming rebounding materials and then slam directly into the material lining layer (Stone-on-Stone) or impact blocks (Stone-on-Iron). Rebounding obliquely upward to the top of the vortex cavity, the material alters direction downward, forming a continuous material curtain with subsequent high-velocity flows, receiving multiple crushing, friction, and grinding actions before discharging from the bottom.

Central & Cascade Feeding

Materials drop into the feed hopper and are divided into two uniform streams by a distributor plate via circular holes. One stream enters the high-speed spinning impeller through the center, while the other cascades down from the outer perimeter of the distributor plate. The centralized stream is accelerated inside the impeller to extreme velocities and projected outward, instantly impacting and fracturing the cascading stream. Together, they slam into the vortex material lining, bounce obliquely up to the top of the cavity, deflect downward, and repeatedly collide with newly projected materials to form a dense crushing curtain. This delivers superb particle shaping and consistent gradations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What materials can VSI crusher process?

The VSI Series efficiently handles medium-hard to ultra-hard materials including river pebble, granite, basalt, limestone, quartz sand, and construction waste. The maximum feed size is 35-60mm depending on the model. For raw materials exceeding this range, pre-crushing with a jaw crusher or cone crusher is required to achieve high-efficiency secondary or tertiary fine crushing.

Q2: What is the difference between stone-on-stone and stone-on-iron crushing modes?

Stone-on-stone: Materials impact directly against a dense material curtain. This results in incredibly low wear parts consumption and delivers an excellent cubic particle shape, making it ideal for stone shaping. Stone-on-iron: Materials impact heavily against alloy metal lining plates. This design provides a significantly higher sand production ratio, making it perfectly suited for high-output artificial sand manufacturing. The VSI Series allows flexible switching between both modes by changing internal lining plates.

Q3: How to control finished product gradation?

Gradation is precisely controlled by three factors: ① Spindle speed adjustment: Higher speeds yield a finer final product; ② Feed mode selection: Implementing a cascade feed effectively increases fines generation; ③ Vibrating screen mesh configuration: Accurately isolates fractions. The typical manufactured sand fineness modulus is adjustable between 2.2 and 3.0.

Q4: Is VSI crusher suitable for mobile crushing stations?

Yes, absolutely. Models like VSI-8522 and VSI-9526 are specifically engineered for mobile crushing and screening operations due to their highly compact physical structure and rapid installation requirements. They are widely deployed in urban construction waste recycling plants and temporary mobile aggregate processing plants.
